Pre Registration is recommended for all classes. This will ensure that all classes will have enough material. Also that all classes will be taught. If a cancellation is necessary please notify by Friday April 22 by phone or email.
Refunds will be sent for classes cancelled either by the school or by the student if the student cancellation is before April 23.

CLASS A .................................................. LEADERSHIP 1

This is the NATIONAL FIRE ACADEMY course.
This course presents the company officer with the basic leadership skills and
tools to perform effectively in the fire service environment. The course will
include techniques and approaches to problem solving.
CLASS B................................................... BASIC STRUCTURAL FIRE FIGHTING TECHNIQUES

This “Hands-on” class includes salvage,
ventilation, ladders, introduction to SCBA, and the Science of Fire. It is
designed for juniors, new members or anyone else who wishes to refresh their
skills.

This is a combination classroom and practical skills training course about emergency vehicle operations. Both written and practical examinations are administered. You may bring your own apparatus if you wish to take the driving part in their own equipment. Class limited to 20 students.

This course is designed to address and discuss the rising number of injuries and fatalities occurring while hunting from a tree stand. Topics discussed will include statistic, equipment used by hunters, extrication, care, packaging and removal of patients.

CLASS E................................................... GAS WELL 101

This course is intended to provide an overview of operations necessary when responding to a gas well incident and how to assess for hazards involved with these incidents. Classroom instruction will be provided followed by a tour of a local gas rig site.
This class is designed to provide participants with the ability to recognize the difference between normal suppression operations and Hazardous Materials and their potential dangers, accessing resources appropriate to the emergency and insure personal safety when functioning as a Hazardous Materials First Responder. Instruction is based on OSHA’s 29 CFR 1910.1201
CLASS G................................................... ACCOUNTABILITY IN FIRE OPERATIONS

This course is designed to provide the participants with an overview of the need for an accountability system during fire operations as well as some techniques on how and when to implement the system. Classroom instruction will be provided followed by practical scenarios in the afternoon.

CLASS H................................................... CYBER ATTACK TRAINING PROGRAM
Instructor: Kevin Coleman, Security Strategist Technolytics Institute
This program will look at the current tools, techniques and strategies for cyber terrorism and focus on how terrorists could disrupt emergency response. Included in this program will be the use of electromagnetic pulse attacks, emergency equipment disruption and other potential damaging techniques.
CLASS I................................................... MCI AWARENESS/OPERATIONS
Instructor: Jim Blazier, Assistant Chief, City of Wheeling Fire Department
This course is designed to teach the pre-hospital care provider on the techniques needed to effectively triage and classify patients in the Mass Casualty situation. This course also meets the requirements of the WV Office of EMS for EMS Personnel recertification.

This course is designed to provide the participants with basic first aid techniques. It will meet the requirements for new firefighters as promulgated by the WV State Fire Commission. It will also be a review for experienced personnel.
